This splendid, fun, large-scale pictorial wall map by Georg Westermann depicts South America in its mid-twentieth century splendor, with vast regions of natural resources.
A virtually untouched interior is depicted in the center of the continent, and agricultural endeavors, and industries of various kinds are all shown in their respective regions. Westermann’s depiction of the great river systems of the continent, the Amazon and de la Plata, highlights the importance of them, accentuating the large regions of the continent which are naturally irrigated by them.
Symbols for elements in the periodic table denote natural resources which are found in various regions of the continent and islands off the coast, including gold, silver, copper, zinc, lead and iron to name a few. Agriculture is well represented with cattle, sheep and myriad crops. Shipping and water sports are featured, as are the oil, cotton and timber industries.
Condition: This large colorful map is in A+ condition. The dowels are solid and show little sign of wear, and the self-tie and heavy duty cord for hanging are in almost-new condition.
