This is an authentic antique map of Missouri and Kansas by Johnson & Browning. The map was published in Johnson's Family Atlas in 1862.
This colorful map centers on the states of Missouri and Kansas with portions of Illinois Tennessee Arkansas Iowa and Nebraska surrounding. Kansas had only recently been admitted into the Union (Jan 29 1861) and it shows with the lack of development at the time the map was produced. Current and proposed railroad are shown as well as towns wagon roads Indian villages and various features of physical geography. The map also includes three lovely vignettes with dark impressions and a decorative boarder used in all Johnson atlases from 1860 - 1863.
Condition: Map is in A condition with bold color full margins and a strong impression.
